Welcome to January

It feels odd saying welcome to January, forgive me if I don’t find ice, snow and subzero temperatures all that welcoming. Nonetheless, here we are in the land of fresh starts, resolutions for change, opportunities to grow and move in new directions where we see chances to improve.

As you look to chart your course for 2023 I’d ask you to think about whether there are spaces for conversations, critical thinking and honest reflection about belonging in your life, your workplace, your church, or any other communities where you reside.

  • Does everyone in your community have permission to be their authentic self?

  • Are you ready to move from simply being inclusive to intentionally creating spaces grounded in belonging?

  • Are your physical spaces situated in ways that allow people to fully participate without excuse or apology?

In my day job in higher education, we are already planning summer and fall trainings for staff and students alike. If you and your team are doing any similar planning and you think that having conversations about belonging could be a missing element as you build your community culture, send me an email at McCue.Timothy@gmail.com or check out www.opendoors.consulting and let’s see what we could create together.

Also, please stay warm out there!
